Rubber Shoes from MKNY

by - Thursday, November 21, 2013

If you have been following my blog for months now, you might notice that my shoe collection consists of heeled shoes and sandals. Few pairs that are flats or wedges, but I never shared any pair of rubber shoes. I It is not that I do not wear one, but unlike some people who are comfortable wearing one on regular basis, I only wear mine when I join activities such as fun runs or any event that requires that type of footwear. Besides, it is the type of footwear that I do not really spend a lot of money when buying. And you know how high the prices of  some rubber shoes can go. And just to give you an idea of how I manage to find a work around, let me just share with you the latest pair of shoes I bought almost a month ago: MKNY powder blue-black rubber shoes.

I was already on the hunt for new rubber shoes since the last pair I owned was already more than three years with me (it no longer look that nice). I was actually contemplating on buying a pair from FILA since they are on sale and they have that cute pink and gray rubber shoes. But then again I know that it might end up collecting dust again so I though of finding something that would be budget friendly and yet still cute and comfy to wear. And after checking and comparing shoes at Robinsons Galleria, I saw this pair that is on 50% discount! It might not be as girly as the one I saw from FILA but I know it will serve its purpose (I was about to have my free trial of circuit training that time) and I only paid Php500.00 for this pair (originally Php999.75) . It was really a good deal for me.

I don't have a female friend who loves to collect rubber shoes. So ladies, is there anyone here who is so into this kind of footwear? Can you share your rubber shoes story, the brands you love and up to how much you could go just for a pair (this is the part that always amaze me whenever I talk to a guy friend with a rubber shoes collection)? I'm looking forward to reading your ideas so please do not hesitate on clicking the reply button below. Have a great day!

  3. Well, I don't collect too. But if given the resources, I'm one of those who would want to buy a new one on a regular basis. And I get you about guys and their shoe collections. Hubby himself gets crazy whenever the latest Jordan or LeBron comes out. According to him, Nike is the most stylish while Adidas durable. Not sure if it's the same case for the girls. Either way, both are expensive so I can't say I'll buy from those. The only pair that I have right now is from Nike and I didn't even buy it myself, it was a gift from him.

  4. I used to have a pair of Nike Free Run 5.0 which I got at 50% for around P2,500. I used that almost regularly for about a coupla years. Then I got a pair of Merrell casual rubber shoes for about P3,500 or so which is by now already 3 years old but still quite usable if looking a bit worn with use. ;)

    1. wow!50% nike pair? that is not bad already especially if you use them regularly :) And good to hear that Merrell rubber shoes can last up to three years. Their shoes somehow appeal to me since I am interested on doing hiking (just having a hard time with my sched). Thanks for sharing info sis!

    2. You really should (should talaga ha?) consider Merrell sis. Given, they're quite pricey but they're really comfy and the quality is superb talaga. Yung akin, pang-harabas talaga eh, as in. I've played badminton, worked out, walked distances and all in it. It's taken quite a beating pero hindi pa din talaga nabigay. Walang nasisira o loose na stitching, or kumawang na soles or anything. ;)

  5. Wow! You really are the budget fashion seeker, can't imagine finding one at that price. I had one or two rubber shoes given by my sister and mom, never got to use those until recently when I decided to exercise again.

  9. This is a good buy for only 500.00 pesos. You're a smart buyer. I only have a pair of rubber shoes which I seldom use, I'm too lazy to run even for just 30 minutes a week.

    1. hi there! yeah, I seldom use a pair of rubber shoes too that's why i don't want to spend too much for such. Maybe if exercise is already incorporated in my daily routine :)

  10. It's nice to see ladies appreciating MKNY shoes. I used to be their head designer back in 2008. I also redesigned their logo & branding which you see printed on the insole (apakan). I enjoyed designing the MNKY line. Now I have manufacture & own my shoe brand.
